(beyond) Doomsday Scrolling by Kathryn Syssoyeva

(beyond) Doomsday Scrolling opens on February 16th at HERE, NYC. Set in an imagined theatre sheltering women fleeing from wars across time and across the globe, this dramatic cabaret connects the invasion of Ukraine with the larger landscape of systemic aggression around the world – and centers women in the story of war.

This multilingual show is performed by 12 women and 1 man, from multiple generations and 10 countries: Ukraine, Poland, Iceland, Georgia, Moldova, Russia, Scotland, Italy, Cuba, and the US. Featuring a live band headed by Ukrainian musician and anti-war activist Lesya Verba, with songs ranging freely over cultures, eras, and genres, the piece conveys experiences of displacement and resistance through drama and satire, personal testimony and living newspaper, and text drawn from the long tradition of women’s war writing - amplifying the voices of women as social actors in wartime.

The current iteration of the show will run from February 16 - 26 at the HERE.

(beyond) Doomsday Scrolling by Kathryn Syssoyeva

Dear friends!

We would like to thank you for supporting and attending AnomalousCo’s (beyond) Doomsday Scrolling, and for your generous donations.

Thanks to YOU we were able to raise a total of $11,500 from the first two iterations of the show. All proceeds were distributed among several organizations and sent out for the immediate assistance of those who are in need. We did not reimburse ourselves for any production costs; 100% of ALL ticket proceeds and donations went directly to the cause.

We also wish to thank everybody who supported the process and participated in organizing and creating the show: each of you made an enormous and meaningful contribution. And we are beyond grateful to our partner, The Center at West Park, for hosting these special performances in support of Ukraine, as well as to CHASHAMA and LEIMAY for your generous in-kind donations of rehearsal space.

We continue development of (beyond) Doomsday Scrolling - a music-driven work of documentary-theatre investigating the theme of women, war, and displacement in a global context, created by artist-activists from 11 countries.

We continue to seek development support for our work:

If you are interested in learning more about ways you can support the development - whether through financial support, in-kind human donations of space, materials, and other resources, or by contributing your skills, talents, and time to our collaborative work, please, reach out to us directly at: kathryn@anomalousco.com

Laboratory & Festival! by Kathryn Syssoyeva

Beckett & the Virtual - an international theatre laboratory in the virtual absurd

Beckett was a formalist whose work explores the tension between the flow of lived experience and the mechanical within that flow. His later experiments, especially, play at the intersection between the technological and the inner landscape of the human being in order to enter more deeply into the complexities of that inner world. He is a playwright for our moment, with all of its pain, its absurdity, its limits, and its possibilities.

Beckett wirtualnie - międzynarodowe laboratorium teatralne w przestrzeni wirtualnego absurdu
